July 14, 2015

Remembering Salt shortlisted in U.K.

MayWorks2015-coverMy short documentary Joe Hill’s Secret Canadian Hideout, released in 2014, won second prize at the Seattle MayWorks video contest this spring.

“We appreciate your contribution to the advancement of worker culture,” said the Washington State Labor council in announcing the prize.

In August, Joe Hill will be shown at the Oregon AFL-CIO summer school in Eugene to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Hill’s death by Utah firing squad.

Also, Remembering Salt was an official selection at the Tolpuddle Radical Film Festival in Tolpuddle, U.K. This is especially gratifying since Tolpuddle was the birthplace of the British trade union movement.
