Lennon as a teenager

A film review

Nowhere Boy is playing in cinemas now and the critics are savaging it for not being accurate enough about Beatle leader John Lennon’s teenage years. The New Yorker claims that Richard Lester’s A Hard Day’s Night is a better film about the bands early days. I disagree. Nowhere Boy attempts to fill some gaps in our knowledge about a man and a band that heavily influenced the Baby Boom Generation and will continue to do so until it has long since ceased to exist. Anyone who is interested in such pop history should also see The Hours and Times, Lennon Naked and the fine Backbeat.
